Skin Biopsy Punches create a small circular hole, a micro-adit, which is an essential part of the tumescent infiltration and aspiration process in liposuction and other procedures. Differently than an incision with a scalpel or blade, adits facilitate and promote the open drainage of residual, blood-tinged anesthetic solution associated with tumescent surgeries. Skin punches also allow the use of microcannulas with virtually no epidermal friction which minimizes damage to the epidermis around the adit.
